How did the first year of Come Follow Me go? We did really well at the beginning of the year and did fine as the year went on. I really wanted to up my game as we started the Book of Mormon so I began searching for some Come Follow Me resources. There are some really great ones that I wanted to share with you! These are the Come Follow Me resources that we use to help teach our kids each week.
Living Scriptures
We’ve used Living Scriptures streaming for a few years now. We love it for the uplifting movies and the classic animated scriptures stories that you may have seen when you were a kid. I recently noticed they have a Come Follow Me resources section and they label the videos that apply to that week’s learning. It’s quick and easy to use! You can use it as an additional activity…or as the only activity… because sometimes, that’s all you can do that day. And that’s totally fine! That’s why I love stuff like this! So you can still help your kids learn even when things are a bit crazy at home or your energy is already spent. Living Scriptures streaming is also a great way to replace watching regular TV shows on Sundays. We love the movies like Ephraim’s Rescue, The Other Side of Heaven, 17 Miracles, and so much more!
You can stream Living Scriptures on browsers, tablets, smart phones, Roku, Chromecast, Kindle Fire, Apple TV, Android TV and Fire TV. You also get your FIRST MONTH FREE. Then you can pay monthly or yearly. This is an excellent way to bring uplifting entertainment into your home.
Come Follow Me FHE
Another great subscription platform is Come Follow Me FHE. Every week, they share lessons and activity pages to do with your kids. There’s a main lesson plus 5 smaller lessons to do throughout the week. The supplemental activities often include coloring pages, crafts, scripture study guides for primary kids, and quotes. I definitely don’t do all the activities with my kids each week, but I love that there’s options so I can pick and choose what I think my kids will do or what I have time for. Use the code TRYIT for a month FREE!
Scripture Study Kits
Kristen Walker Smith’s website has some great scripture study kits that are FREE! I love that she wants kids to become Scripture Scholars. This is a little more time intensive as you’re reading and studying the scriptures as a family. I think this is best if your kids are in Senior Primary. We have a lot of littles that can’t read yet, so this isn’t ideal for a little conversation with the family at night, but if you’re doing a study with your kids that can read, this is a great resource.
Don’t Miss This
I love the Don’t Miss This channel by Emily Freeman and David Butler. They pull out some key points from the reading that week to help you understand things a bit more or to think about certain versus. They have a YouTube channel and I love that they’re posting the audio as a podcast because podcasts are my jam! I love listening while cleaning or going for a run (when it isn’t freezing outside). They also share some great resources when you sign up for their newsletter.
Other Resources
There are other free resources that I’ve looked into as well. There are lots of options which is amazing, but you can’t do them all! So I’ve gone through and chosen what’s best for me and my family right now. Here are a few more resources that you can check out as well:
Chicken Scratch N Sniff has lots of great ideas. I especially lover her ministering ideas.
Saving Talents has some excellent Come Follow Me resources that are free.
The Red Headed Hostess has super cute resources. I use her Book of Mormon Study Guide. It’s especially great for people who like to doodle, take notes, or do diagrams.
BYU Studies has additional Come Follow Me resources to help you deepen your study each week.
