This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Husqvarna Automower for IZEA Worldwide. All opinions are 100% mine.
I’m hoping if you’re reading this post, that you’re interested in purchasing a Husqvarna Automower, but maybe you want to do a little research about it first and hear from someone who has one. We have had a Husqvarna Automower for 2 months now and it has been great! I wanted to share the pros and cons with you to help you decide if this is the right investment for you. Especially because they can be a bit of an investment depending on the model you decide on and then installation.
A Little About Our Yard
We have the 430 X model. Our lot size is .27 acres. We have a swing set in our yard, a few trees, a garden, and our yard slopes a little. Our family also have 5 children who love to play in the yard. We have loved the Husqvarna Automower! We set a timer for the hours and days for it to run and it goes all on its own and goes back to the charger when the battery is low. It’s able to move around the obstacles in our yard and it’s super safe around kids. Our grass is always cut which has been awesome this summer as we were on vacations a lot! And our Saturdays were more free to work on other projects rather than my husband spending at least an hour and a half mowing our lawn every Saturday morning in the heat of the summer.
Child Safety
I’ve had a few people ask me about how safe the Automower is around kids. It is super safe! There are only 3 blades that are mostly under a disk that is far beneath the Automower, so if it does run over a little foot, it won’t reach the blades. The blades are also on a swivel, so they can move if bumped. The Automower also knows to stop and change routes when it bumps into something and it’s pretty gentle when bumping into things. We’ve had the Automower running while our kids are playing outside and it’s been totally fine. Ours also has a built in alarm that goes off when you stop the machine and our kids have stopped it a few times (because with all technology, they think it’s theirs) and the alarm goes off.

Our older kids know the passcode and can turn it off and start it going again or I’ve run out there really fast, but overall they mostly leave it alone. The alarm is another great feature to help with theft protection especially if you don’t have a fence or if it’s running in the front yard. It also has a GPS so if it does happen to get stolen, you’ll know where it is!
Here’s a video I posted to Instagram a few weeks ago demonstrating where the blades are and the safety around kids.
How Does It Know Where to Go?
When you purchase your Automower, you’ll need to have it installed. A local company came who works specifically with Husqvarna so they knew the machine and how it works. They have a machine that digs a small line throughout the border of your yard where they place a wire so the Automower knows where to go. They can also make circles of wire or “islands” around objects like our swing set poles, the slide and trees. This way it can still go under the swings, but not keep bumping into the poles.
Here’s a video I took of it going under our swing set.
It can also go across the cement! We have a patch of grass across the sidewalk on both sides of the driveway. It does cost extra, but they were able to cut into the crack of the sidewalk and place the wire inside so the Automower can cross the sidewalk. It’s been worth it just to have the Automower get all the grass done.
Because the Automower needs to follow a guide wire, it does leave some edges around the yard that it can’t get to. Especially around the trees and swing set. So my husband still has to edge the grass, but that’s a lot quicker than mowing the whole yard AND THEN having to edge. It saves us all a ton of time!
So Quiet
Another thing that I love about the Husqvarna Automower is how quiet it is. You can’t hear it running at all! All you can hear is the grass being cut if you’re standing right next to it. Other than that, it’s completely silent which is awesome! So it can be running at any time – during nap time, at night, when friends are over, etc and you don’t even notice.
You can also check on it and make adjustments on an app which is awesome and very user friendly.
So What Are The Cons?
Honestly, the only con for us is that you still have to edge your grass. So you can’t totally just let your lawn take care of itself, but pretty close. 🙂 We also left our hose in a pile on the lawn and it punctured the hose. Most objects it will bump into and go around, but this was low enough to the ground that it went over the top of it. So just be careful of hoses and other small objects it can run over. But like I said before, it won’t run over your child.
We have an amazing looking lawn, save time by not mowing, it’s safe around kids, it’s rain proof, it’s protected by an alarm, it charges itself, and it’s super quiet. What else do you need? If you’re considering a Husqvarna Automower, you won’t be worry with your purchase! You are going to love it!
