You’re either on team Peeta or team Gale. Team Edward or team Jacob. When there are two men who both love the main woman, you naturally choose one of the men and hope she ends up with him. And in Longing for Home Hope Springs, there’s no exception. You’re either team Joseph or team Tavish.
I won’t tell you which team I was on because my guy didn’t win in the end. I think you tend to lean towards the man that you would rather have…anyway… 🙂
Despite Katie not picking the guy I wanted her to pick, it’s still a great book!
I am drawn in to the ways of the pioneers, especially the Irish immigrants (mostly because those were my ancestors). But it’s amazing to see how these people lived with no modern conveniences like doctors, medicine, or refrigerators. And where things like a fire could destroy so many things! They just didn’t have any way to stop it.
This is the sequel to Longing for Home and if you read the first book, the feud between the Irish and the Americans is out of control! You just never know what’s going to happen next and all seems lost. But there are some surprises along the way. Katie is quite the heroine and you can’t help but love her determination and bold personality. I love how she develops such strong relationships with so many people in the book.
Her past is also still very haunting to her and you wonder if she will ever feel closure or be able to forgive herself for the things that happened in Ireland. And she goes through so much in America! It’s crazy!
But I loved this book! I love the historical fiction. I love the characters. I just had to know what happened and read through it quickly! I may have read the last page when I was only half way through the book…I know so bad! And I never do that! Honestly! But that just shows you how unpredictable this book is! I just had to know what was going to happen.
If you haven’t read the first book Longing for Home, make sure you read that one first, then pick this one up right away! Because you will definitely want to know what happens to Katie Macauley, the men she loves, and the feuding town of Hope Springs.
And here’s a great video from the author Sarah M. Eden where she talks about her book and the proper romance novels.
