Oh pumpkin. I think that’s my favorite thing about September, bring in the pumpkin season! Pumpkin flavored everything. I have a list of pumpkin goodies I want to bake this fall and a pumpkin roll was right at the top (along with pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cinnamon rolls, pumpkin bread, and a few others I want to try).
I just made this perfect pumpkin roll the other day for my family and they ate it right up! And were quickly asking for more. I’ve been making it every year since I first posted it on my blog back in 2012. Since it’s been a few years and back then I had about 5 followers, I thought I would bring it back and post much better pictures to go along with it.
I hope you enjoy this as much as we do!
When I was in college, my roommate Crystal would make this amazing Pumpkin Roll. I never saw her actually make it, but she always let us try it. And she was generous enough to share the recipe with me! It’s a little tricky to make because you have to roll it, but I know you can do it. If I can do it, you can do it.
A couple of quick tips.
Baking the pumpkin roll is pretty straight forward. Flipping it onto the towel is a little tricky and you’ll want to make sure the towel is completely covered in powdered sugar so the roll doesn’t stick to the towel when you’re unrolling it.
Once the roll has cooled (you can stick it in the fridge to help speed up the process), unroll the pumpkin roll and carefully and evenly spread on the cream cheese filling.
Then roll the pumpkin roll back up. You can see here my roll stuck to the towel a little. But this time around, I made sure I had enough powdered sugar on the towel and I had no sticking!
Wrap the pumpkin roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
It’s so good and something that I make sure to make every fall. Happy fall y’all!

I use this same recipe every Thanksgiving and Christmas. I was terrified but determined the first time I tried it and now mostly have the hang of it, though I'll admit I get powdered sugar EVERYWHERE. Cute blog, I found you over at the House of Hepworths linky party.

I've always wanted to try these, but seems too messy with the towel – thanks for the how to, so I MIGHT try it this year 😉
