We’ve been doing themed family Halloween costumes the last few years. Alan thinks this may be our last one since our girls will probably start getting more opinionated. Just last week Kami said she wanted to be a pumpkin…whoops! Maybe next year.
I’ve seen the baby skeleton in the pregnant skeleton around the internet and loved it! And since I’m pregnant during Halloween this year… that’s what we did!
Family Skeleton Costumes!
The costumes took me about 3 hours to make which isn’t too bad!
Here’s what you need:
White Fabric Paint
Black shirts and pants for each family member
Paint brushes (I used a large and smaller one)
To start off our costumes, I ran to DI (any thrift store would work) and picked out black long sleeved shirts and pants for all of us. Some are sweats and some aren’t. I just grabbed whatever they had in or around our sizes. I didn’t realize I had grabbed xxlarge pants for myself until I got home! So I just took in the sides by sewing a new seam up the pant legs about an inch in and they worked great! So you can definitely make size adjustments as needed.
Then I looked at these pictures to see how a skeleton should look. I was definitely going for simple – something I could do myself.
Baby skeleton and mom ribs PDF found at 21 Random.
So I sat down, grabbed some newspaper to put in between the clothes so the paint wouldn’t bleed through (cardboard is better, but we didn’t have any) and got started. You could make a stencil for all of these, but I didn’t want to take the time so I just free handed all of it and used those pictures as guides.
Here are some closeups of the final product.

Kami’s costume.
Chloe’s costume.
And I just made Alan’s the same as mine, but without the baby and extended the spine to the bottom of his shirt.
We had a ward Halloween party Friday night and had so much fun in our costumes! People loved them! Definitely a success!

And the best pic I could get of Kami.
Fishing for some treats!
On the Haunted Hayride which was a huge success! My parents were in charge and it was awesome!
We can’t wait to go trick-or-treating on Thursday!
