I’ve been trying to make some fun snacks with my kids when my daughter gets home from preschool. My kids seem to snack all the way up to dinner and then not want to eat dinner. So I decided I should start giving them an after school snack so they could eat something and then not keep eating until dinner time. I’m sure most of you do this already, but this school thing is new to me! 🙂
I find if I get them involved, it’s more fun for my kids too and we can spend the afternoon making and eating our snacks. I hope this can be a fun tradition we can carry out through high school.
I’ve been trying to do some Halloween themed snacks and last week we made these fun ghost pretzels.
What you need:
White chocolate chips
Pretzel rods
Black food coloring gel (I use Wilton’s)
Toothpick
Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and put them in the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir and put them in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Repeat this until the chocolate is completely smooth, but don’t overdue it! It will start to get chunky if you put it in too long. I usually have to microwave them just 3 or 4 times.
Give each of your kids a spoon and divide the chocolate into smaller bowls for everyone to easily have access to the chocolate. Spoon the chocolate onto the pretzel rods so that most of the pretzel is covered in chocolate. The great thing about these ghosts is they don’t need to be smooth which makes it simple for the kids.
Lay them down on a sheet of parchment paper to dry. Do this to all of your pretzels.
When the chocolate is about dry, dip your toothpick into the black food coloring gel and make little eyes and mouths on the pretzels. And that’s it! So easy and a fun little Halloween treat for your kids.
