Mmm I love apple desserts. I took the kids apple picking this fall and made an apple pie with the apples we picked. There’s something about apples that says fall and I love it!
This dessert I’m sharing today is a great apple dessert that gives you an apple pie taste without having to go through all the work of an apple pie. And they’re easy to grab and eat – which could be good or bad. Bad because then I eat more. I can’t help myself.
Right now I have the “pregnant excuse.” I always allow myself a little extra dessert when I’m pregnant. 😉 It’s the one time I can gain weight and not worry about it!
Anyway, this recipe is delicious and super easy!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup brown sugar, divided
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 cups flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup butter cut into small pieces
1 egg
3 cups peeled and sliced apples
2 TBSP flour
1 TBSP lemon juice
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8×8 pan with cooking spray and set aside.
2. Mix together 1/2 cup of the brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and flour.
5. In a separate bowl, stir together the apples, remaining brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
8. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until your bars are a nice golden brown. You can eat them as is (which is delicious!) or add some vanilla ice cream!Recipe adapted from One Sweet Appetite.
